Google is all set to roll out a new service for Android users, that lets you locate you lost phone and protect your data and privacy in case of theft.
The new service named as Android Device Manager can help you easily locate your phone, by making a loud ring even if the mobile is on silent mode. But you are too far from the device and can’t hear the ring. Lets say you forgot the phone in your office the Map can help to pinpoint the exact location of your phone.
Android Device Manager can help you keep your data from ending up in the wrong hands. If your phone can’t be recovered, or has been stolen, you can quickly and securely erase all of the data on your device.
There are some other applications already available for android users that perform the same tasks, but all of them need a working Internet connection in order to communicate. So if you have turned off the Wi-Fi or you phone gets stolen and the theif turns off the Wi-Fi/GPRS its impossible to located the device. Anyhow this service will help a lot in some cases.
Android Device Manager will be available later this month on devices running Android 2.2 or above; to use it, you also will need to be signed into your Google Account. There will also be an Android app to allow you to easily find and manage your devices. Stay tuned!
