Just like we’ve predicted OPPO has announced R5 smartphone alongside with N3 at “One More Step” event in Singapore. In case you don’t know R series from OPPO is widely known for elegant, sleek and stylish devices and R5 is no different.
R5 is not only a spectacular device, but it’s also world’s thinnest smartphone to date, measuring around 4.85mm and the first one to fit under half a centimeter. R5 features a reinforced industrial grade aluminum alloy micro-arc hand polished frame.
However to achieve the mark of world’s slimmest phone, OPPO has to ditch the 3.5mm headphones jack, but don’t worry you’ll get the USB to 3.5mm adapter in the box, so you can enjoy your favorite music.
On the front it has a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080p resolution (423ppi). Some would argue that why not go with the UHD resolution but in fact the screen looks very bright and sharp.
The primary camera is 13-megapixel with dual LED flash which has the ability to fast focus, ultra HD photos and pure image 2.0. There’s a secondary 5-megapixel camera on the front with 83 degree wide angle lens. Both cameras have f/2.0 aperture, offering 4K video and 720p slow motion.
On the inside R5 packed with 1.5Ghz octa-core Snapdragon 615 (64-bit chipset), 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It takes a microSIM card and has a non-removable 2000mAh battery with rapid charging feature. Normally won’t use all of its cores, however during extreme usage all 8 cores will be utilized. To absorb the heat, R5 will use cool element phase-change material which dissipates heat to protect the smartphone’s CPU and extend its lifespan.
R5 is 4G LTE and also supports Bluetooth 4.0, 5GHz Wi-Fi & WiFi direct. This handset will be launched globally in December and the price has been set to $499. There is no word on the availability in Pakistani market yet, however we assume that it will reach the market next year with in a price range of Rs. 45,000 – 52,000.
