Honor Magic is Huawei’s answer to the recently launched Mi MIX concept phone. This smooth curvy phone packs some unique AI features and the most rapidly charging battery.

The Design Aspect:

Honor Magic features a 5.06-inch AMOLED screen with a unique all curved design, boasting 2K resolution. It has a double 3D glass that covers both front and back and the main purpose is to reflect bright lights out of the way.

This phone also gets rid of the usual back and menu keys and uses a single physical key that serves as Home, Back and Menu / Overview (very similar to Meizu’s M-Touch). This home key is also embedded with a fingerprint scanner.

It measures 7.8mm thick and weighs around 145g. There are two color options to choose from, Golden Black and Porcelain White.

The Hardware Inside:

Honor Magic features a 2.3GHz octa-core Kirin 950 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. There is no word about the availability of a microSD card slot. However it has Dual SIM card slots and supports 4G LTE connectivity among other wireless options.

Dual Camera Setup:

This phone also carries the same 12-Megapixel dual camera (color + monochrome) with an f/2.2 aperture, previously seen on Honor 8. The front camera boasts 8-Megapixel resolution and the WiseScreen technology makes use of it other than taking selfies. It combines a sensor in its frame and an infrared sensor in the front-facing camera that automatically turns on the screen when it recognizes the owner of the phone is holding the phone.

AI Driven Operating System:

The Honor Magic Live OS brings several AI features for the ease of use and security. For example, the FaceCode Intelligent Recognition system will only reveal phone notifications for pre-registered faces and any other person won’t see your private data even they have the access to phone.

It does also automatically recognize that you are driving and will prompt a reminder for you to switch the device to driving mode. Also entering a dark room, the phone will automatically turn on the flash light.

The AI personal assistant DeepThink can perform all of these tasks and will continue learning about your phone usage to offer better help.

However for people worried about their privacy, this phone is going to break all the rules, since it uses camera and other sensors all the time to offer you assistance and the AI will need access to all your private data in order to learn more and more about you.

Battery That Charges in Minutes:

It’s 2,900mAh battery is made with a special graphite molecular structure that gets 90% charge in half an hour with the Huawei Magic Power charger.

It takes almost 20 minutes to reach 70% and 10 minutes to fill up to 40%, all while keeping the phone cool and usable.

Pricing and Availability:

Honor Magic smartphone is priced at $530 and only available for pre-order now. The actual sales might start at the beginning of next year, but for now this phone is to be sold in China only.
