A recent attack on India’s NSG Special Forces website has once again intensified the cyber tension between Pakistan and India.

Now Indian media is claiming that the hackers from India have infected three major Pakistani airport official websites with ransomware. It is said that this is the revenge for taking down NSG website a few days ago.

India hackers asserted that not only they have rendered the websites offline, they also infected the servers with ransomware. Which means that website administration can’t see the data as it is now encrypted.

Mail Online reports that hackers are demanding bitcoin money, in order to unlock the website data. It also says that hackers threatened not to unlock data even after getting the money.

Indian Hackers Bluff was Called:

At the time of this writing, two of three websites namely Jinnah Airport Karachi and Benazir Bhutto Airport Islamabad are working fine, however Multan Airport website is showing pages from Bacha Khan Airport Peshawar.

It is worth mentioning here that all of these websites are controlled by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority and hosted by COMSATS, the premier ISP of Pakistan. So even if there was a temporary offline period the websites are back online again.

The Indian hackers claiming to infect the servers with ransomware was either a bluff or they were so incompetent that the website administration easily unlocked all files.

What’s Next?

Such fights are common but now the intensity of attacks has increased many fold as hackers from both the countries are targeting crucial websites. Now that Indian hackers have attacked some major Pakistani websites, it is expected that Pakistani hacker would retaliate. So let’s wait and see what happens next.
