Finally the wait is over for Xiaomi fans in Pakistan as Smart Link Technologies announced to become its official partners.
Though no exact date and details of smartphones are provided, a newspaper advertisement says that Mi smartphones and eco products to be launched soon.
Xiaomi was Banned Previously:
It merits mentioning that previously PTA had banned the import of Xiaomi products in Pakistan, especially the smartphones.
PTA said that none of those importers got approvals and NOC. Additionally the Xiaomi products that were being imported in Pakistan didn’t meet equipment approval standards.
However, Smart Link finally managed to get the necessary approvals from PTA back in November and now they’re all set for the launch.
Our sources tell that Xiaomi itself won’t be present in the market and all the dealings will be channeled through Smart Link.
Initially 2-3 Mi phones will be launched in the market, that could include Mi 5 and Mi MAX along with other eco products like BT Speakers, Power Banks, Camera and VR equipment.
Prices won’t be the Same:
While Xiaomi products will have some official backing and warranty, don’t expect the prices to be same as China or other international markets. We can assume that these products will carry a much higher price tag than normal.
It that would be the case, there won’t be any actual benefit for the customers, as Xiaomi is known for its low prices. Additionally we will have to see it Smart Link starts the distribution and sales through its existing sales channel or would go for Xiaomi way, i.e. online sales.
Once we get more details about the availability and pricing, we will update here. So don’t forget to bookmark this blog.
