Xiaomi has unveiled the second iteration of the “Hugely” popular Mi Max smartphone, today in Beijing China. Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun presented the new Mi Max 2 smartphone, which comes with a massive 5,300 mAh battery – that supports Quick Charge 3.0 as well.

Mi Max 2 at a Glance:

The Mi Max 2 is a sizable device featuring a 6.44” display with ultra-thin bezels and a 1080p resolution. It could have been a lot better if there was a 2K display for this size, but seems like Xiaomi is hellbent to maximize battery life for this phone up to 2 -3 days.

For this reason, it uses a Snapdragon 625 SoC, which is good for battery optimization but feels like a major downgrade from the Snapdragon 652 used in the previous iteration.

The phone comes prepacked with 4GB of RAM and two storage options include 64GB or 128GB. It has a 12 Megapixel primary camera, similar to Mi 6 featuring IMX386 sensor with 1.25µm pixels. It has a ƒ/2.2 aperture, PDAF autofocus and Dual Tone LED Flash. One the front, there is a 5-Megapixel camera with ƒ/2.0 aperture and 85° lens.

Mi Max 2 offers dual SIM 4G LTE connectivity, along with USB Type-C port and a rear fingerprint scanner. It runs on Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box with MIUI 8 on top on it.

In terms of battery Mi Max 2 is beast as it comes with a 5,300 mAh battery pack that supports QuickCharge 3.0 and has the ability to charge other devices as well.

Pricing and Availability:

This phone is priced at Rs. 26,000 for the 4 GB/64 GB version, while the 128 GB storage option will cost approximately Rs. 30,500.

Xiaomi’s official distributor in Pakistan, Smart Link Technologies has given a hint to launch this phone in Pakistan as well. We might see the phone launch in August this year, however the prices will be a little bit higher.
