The CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, Richard Yu has revealed that Huawei has sold over 12 million units of P9 and P9 Plus worldwide.

Speaking at an interview following the launch of the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus in China he said that P10 and P10 Plus should also combine to reach more than 10 million units in sales as well.

Furthermore, he confirmed that Huawei is working on a phone with screen occupying the whole front, which means no borders or bezels. No details have been provided about the availability of this phone and we don’t know if Huawei will follow Xiaomi in terms of design for this phone.

Huawei to outstrip Apple and Samsung:

Yu also claimed that with 29% year-over-year growth last year, Huawei would soon overtake Apple to become the second largest player in the smartphone game.

He even said that in the next 5 years Huawei could also surpass Samsung to get the top position in the world, selling the most innovative products at affordable prices.

Can Huawei Achieve These Fanciful Goals?

Huawei’s goals seem to be very aggressive and unreal given the performance of company in the overseas markets. The recently launched P10 and P10 Plus don’t differ much from the last years P9 and P9 Plus, so it is highly unlikely to get 10 million sales for these phones.

In order to dominate the market Huawei has to bring something new and unique and keep the pricing in check.

New Chinese brands like OPPO, Vivo and Xiaomi are also trying hard to grab the market share in China and other international markets, making difficult for Huawei to maintain its market share.
